What's with Mattel posting about employee appreciation day on social media and saying how the company values and appreciates its employees' collaboration and contributions. Is this a joke that just didn't turn out to be funny?

At least face painter henry can get a job with hasbro or MGA or spinmaster. That's still a tough trade and having someone locally who can do it on the fly is valuable. Mattel are morons! Love face painter Henry!
Last comment is 100% correct as I know a FacePainter Henry, who was excellent at his craft. A true hard working, stay late communicating with China employee. He spoke fluent Chinese so they kept sending him to China to teach his trade. His reward was getting laid off, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Now that's true employee appreciation. All of MattHell's IT is from India. That is of course a small hand full that were kept to cower to the Directors, VP's, SVP's & EVP's in the Tower of Power.
Designers, Seamstresses, Face Painters, Hair Designers, and model makers will all be replaced by someone in China or Viet Nam or Bangladesh in the near future. That will drive profitability more than any top line growth potential.
oh it always happens. the barbie leadership finds some stupid reason to go to Milan where by the way we have hardly any business so they can go to some fashion show that no little kid will ever understand or appreciate. all while the rest of us get handed our walking papers. yeah they fly off to Milan while recommending who to lay off. hey but do they ever go to Latin America where they actually have business? oh no. they're too high brow for that. why RD lets this continue to happen makes us all think that he is just as blind to the BS that they are all selling to themselves. why would anyone believe any of the motivational BS they spout when they are all obviously playing by different rules.
you want to actually cap overhead? then be serious about it. you will not make a dent in your sales numbers by sending those people to Milan or having another useless fashion partnership or another instagram campaign for another movie that no little girl will ever watch while everyone toils under the grindstone of making the numbers. until you are serious about overhead cutting you cannot seriously get ahead.
All the Designers that actually render the designs, seamstresses that sew them, face painters who hand paint them, hair designers that root/groom them & model makers who build them don't really matter and are the first to go. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Now that's real appreciation right there.
Meanwhile the no talent, can't make a decision VP's & Sr. Directors are busy planning their next do nothing boondoggle shopping trip. I guarantee you that none of these worthless clowns have even had to fill out one useless PLM form.
Just like Orwell's Animal Farm, all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others...........
Yes, didn't you hear? On Barbie they're showing employee appreciation by sending their fabulous leadership team to Paris and Milan, so all the minions can live vicariously through their VPs and Sr. Director as they binge on macarons and rosé, shop at high-end stores on Champs-Elysées, and sit behind Anna Wintour at fashion shows. Blech! Meanwhile all the people that actually make the product are working OT to get the fall line out the door. They've done this 3 years in a row...so how is this ok?
