Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

35+ year employee optomistic. That should get the naysayers riled.

Yes, there are many 30+ Conoco and Phillips folks around. Back in the day we went to work for a company WE wanted to work for and RETIRE from. We wanted to be the BEST. So many along the way went for the dollar and not the future. Along the way, I have always questioned upper management leadership [I still do]. I will still stay optomistic and strive for making this company a more efficeint company [if you've been here less than 6 years, you don't know what that means] and I will continue to believe that I can add value to the company. If you sit at your desk and stare at the walls you have no future. The future is for thinkers and doers. You have that ability NOW.

People like you should retire... And let the next generation lead...too many old people in cop (buddies and friends business). Why wouldn't retire with 35 years of service? If you can't afford to retire by now you won't ever be able to leave. Get out of the way and let younger people work and make a living. Retarded Whip Dick!

Also, COP and thinking and doing are not generally associated together. We are more generally associated with things like politicking, ass kissing, following, creative bookkeeping. If thinking and doing were prevalent at COP, we would not be in the epic mess that we are in.

Or in other words, the optimists are on an acid trip or coming down from an acid trip. Go listen to some Allman Brothers and start looking for another job.

It usually takes between 30 to 90 minutes to start feeling the effects of LSD. Once you're tripping, this can last between six and 12 hours. It takes some people another two to six hours to 'feel normal again' and be able to sleep.

When I was hired into an IOC in the 90's they told us all right of the bat that this was not a job for life and we should not expect to work for the same company. It's not our generation ... it's yours that made the decision not to offer the next generation what you had.

The problem with the next generation, is they don't know how to lead.

Really... !!? You must be the only one who still believes in the spirit value. I don't blame you, I guess 35+ years of kissing asses (God knows how many) and given your age that it is probably the only thing that keeps you alive...
