I know for sure that the Global Practice Lead is just for the person that currently has the job and is going thru immigration process... this was done to see what other people could have the same qualifications. Not an active job req at all!!!!!

Contractors are FAR cheaper than employees. It isn't just about salary dude. Benefits, payroll taxes, insurance, and the cost of termination are just not there. Those can be 50-70% of an employee's actual salary. If Company work stops - it's just a phone call and the contractor is gone. No HR issues, no layoff costs, nada.

It is amazing how so few posters know how business works.....

I got let go last week to already have been approached about coming back as a contract worker should the department win just 1 out of the 3 projects they are bidding on. Apparently contract workers don't go against the head count... while they'd end up paying more money for me as a contract worker... doesn't seem like management is making wise decisions.
