Got the 'ole heave-hoe Monday. I'm 55 years of age and spent most of my adult life at big red. Expected to stay on through the downturn but I'm white, male, and over 40/so am a target. Been drinking non-stop ever since...you name it, I drank it. I'm a complete mess and don't know if I'll stick around this one-horse town called Houston.

Is there life after Big Red?
Viagra binge??
Been drinking Crown also, and on a Viagra binge right now.
Houston a one-horse town? The forth largest city in the country? Unlike the oil-only 80s, Houston today has a much-diversified economy with plenty of opportunities outside oil. Perhaps not at the salary the oilfield gave, but enough to get by until the oil price recovers. Consider school, training, something constructive. Or, go back home and live with your folks, perhaps the oilfield just wasn't for you.

This week is the funeral of a very close friend and Halliburton colleague who was laid off 5 months ago.
He also continued drinking and never stopped smoking. I was also laid off at that time but never considered drinking as an option. If you continue drinking you may end up like my friend. there are many other ways to continue with your life , if you want to live a long life. It's all up to you.
A prime example of dead weight
Keep drinking, racist.
Try the new whisky set up by halliburton it's a 1 off hard to come bye but can be ordered direct via halliburton catalogue it's called big red guaranteed to give you side effects the day after forget about the hard work you have given for the cause that means nothing to the top level bosses have a double on them remember no ice
Get a cool hat, a six string acoustic and a slide, find a good street corner in the sun and never look back, considering it... Oh, yeah, develop a deep raspy voice and never drunk enough to forget the words...
Crown is canadian swill that has flavorings added to bring it up to what you know and enjoy. i think in these cases it may be more appropriate to come back to KENTUCKY bourbon my friend. kentucky, or at least tennessee, whiskey. grouper - i see you, what you doin' man?
In the Alcoholics Anonymous Big book 3rd edition, read page 449. Or 4th edition page 417 (same story). Those words changed my attitude forever. And it applies to the current situations.
You can read it online for free..
Sadly, alcohol ONLY temporarily makes a person forget life each day. When you wake back up in the morning you are dehydrated, dumbfounded, remorse, want more Crown. Ironically? Life continues! No matter what and the only thing a person can change is themselves and their attitude. It only hurts me when I drink and I don't even know it. Alcohol, the only legal drug that deceives your mind into thinking "This will help". When it doesn't. I know, I did it. Been sobor 14 years and love everyday of it. Has it been a bed of roses? Heck no but at least I could make sobor decisions.
I was let go last month. Never even thought of a drink. And making good decisions.
Been drinking blood since last week due to the bloodbath happening in office.
Good luck friend. God bless. I hope u find what you are seeking. There is not much honor left in 2016.
Been there but found hope in Christ!
Been drinking Crown since last April brother...(from another 50+ discarded white dude)
