Barrett's Privateers

Stan Rogers, late Canadian folksinger, same spirit. Why send? Just seemed to fit the mood. In a good way.

Found by accident. An old favorite done as a cover by what might be an oil ship's crew off Africa. Have a laugh. Good medicine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGheV059UBA

Lightfoot, right you are. Thanks. There's another great one and while looking just now I ran across this, Waylon Jennings & about oil field work around the world, old short film by Mobil but interesting. In a way, how it all started. Some good men on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCyA_Tm0T08&list=PLCIKBWEvKXmgyQHc8rtA2jdyFEXooJaMw

"Free in The Harbour" is about the first generation of roughneckers to the Albert oil sands. "Little Fish to Japan" about the decimation of Canadian commercial fishing. Greatest song: "Northwest Passage." All on YouTube these days. Died in a plane crash fire in '83 because he let everybody else get out first. A hero in Canada, somewhat known in Alaska because of most famous song; not well known beyond that. His brother Garnet Rogers has a great song written years after the accident, "Night Drives." Found on YouTube recently.
