Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Hourly to not exceed 40 hours.

Maintenance and Non-wellhead personnel to not exceed 40 hour weeks. We all would rather layoffs so other can pay our bills and other can still can still collect unemployment. So now, we are all screwed here.

Halliburton finding ways of saving some pennies and making employees quit.

40 hours??? Come to the NE. The cement dept is very steady. We are the preferred provider for our customers. Never thought as a manager I would see a bonus either... But I do a good job in tough times. Im with everyone else though and wish it was over.

40 hours?

You lucky bastards!

We're down to 4-day weeks, no overtime. Choose between 29.5hrs and 32hrs. Just cut 35% of our staff today as well, so we're the fortunate remaining ones.

We're tightening belts, selling stuff, eating bare spaghetti, collecting free firewood, turning down the heating, taking up Tai Chi, enrolling on non-oil-related courses, walking the dogs further, spending more time at our mistresses, training to run marathons, painting sunsets, starting up bands, cutting our own hair, building Arks and generally enjoying the enforced shift in our work/life balance.

No whining and crying going on here: we're fortunate to have jobs & housing - at least we're not starving refugees fleeing bombed homes and blood-thirsty gangs.

Get a bit of perspective!

If you can't pay your bills on 40 hours a week then that's your problem. You apparently aren't very responsible financially and don't plan ahead at all

This sucks. Went from salaried and took a paycut to hourly. And now down to 40. People bitching about living within their means and making assumptions on others. Fools.

If you didn't live beyond your means you wouldn't be worrying about it. Anyone who basis their check on overtime is a moron. You set your life around base pay and all is good, don't complain because you can't afford your 50k truck payment..

Well who was the dummy that makes his bills match his income? Halliburton didn't force you to go out and spend all your money on a bunch of goofy crap. Spend wise next time and you won't look like a fool when the gravy money runs dry.

So, your unemployment check is better than your 40 hour check with medical insurance ? With that type of logic you must be a mechanic and should be released...geesh

In our office, we discussed as a group that none of us will be able to pay our bills on 40 hours. Instead of some struggling, now everyone is with no severance package. Goes in effect as of Friday. Just giving an update on situation here in midcon.
