Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Travel vs WebEx

I wonder if the people in Sunnyvale that chuckled at George Curryman's comments about wasted money on travel, since people can't figure out great communication tools like WebEx, were laid off today. Some laughing matter, with the people impacts experienced today.

Lest we forget a VP that flew extra mileage to an undisclosed location, turning around after forgetting his passport. All to join a conference call.

You knew it was a bad sign when Kurian came in and basically said "I'm not going to change anything", meaning he was continuing on the course that Georgens started.

I think George is prepping NetApp to be sold, little by little. Very soon!! Writing..wall!

Too many execs have left and it started when Georgens left and George took over.

Everything engineering dev/qa started going to India in bulk, all around campus it's virtualized. Cutting hardware platforms for customers. No more hardware, just software on white box.

Only thing left will be sales worldwide and dev/qa/customer support in india. With George in SVL laughing as he sells us to cisco..... thinking this is the best transformation ever!

Be very happy with your package.

I was impacted in 2014 and am re employed. For those quoting netapp's values and business exigency in the same breath, isn't it contradictory? With this being the 4th year in a row where layoffs have been done in the guise of buisness realignment, all I can say is that it throws a bad light on the NetApp executive team that they can't even get layoff right in one go, then high hopes of setting the company direction right.

Sorry, but this sounds like sour grapes. Don't fall into self-pity on this. The company had become bloated and unable to compete with more agile companies. This was necessary. Never easy, and never perfect, but necessary. Move on and don't look back. (PS: at least you could have spelled George's last name correctly.)

First sign was hiring a CEO with no new strategy other than hiring a consulting firm to make the big decisions.

This is the best sign the company is going nowhere, once they start penny pinching they've lost the courage and vision
