Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Working for COP will hurt you in long run

Bottom line.... COP is not a great place to work. If you have them on your resume its not a good thing. Future employers want people who have done meaningful work that gave results. When your resume hits a potential employers desk it will probably be dismissed simply because you worked for COP, no one wants the negative culture from there spilling into their work place. COP has a bad name on the streets.

It doesn't have anything to do with buying a company and letting the new employees go. The new company will ALWAYS keep their empolyees if possible. If "you" were to takeover a compamy, would you let go of the ones that got you there or replace with an empolyee you have no clue about?

A company that make up objectives, and then fake results and achievements just to prize it self is a TRASH company.

Outside of Oklahoma and Texas ConocoPhillips is not well known. The perception of ConocoPhillips exceeds the reality in Oklahoma and Texas. The projects noted on the resume will be far more important. At this point the layoff noted on the resume will have sufficient credibility due to the bad press eliminating the 45 minutes of why do you want to leave your current company at an interview.

Well said. Anyone who does buy assets does not want the employees that they try to sell with it.
