My position was terminated as my Manager was unable to find more non-cleared work for me. The expectation was get security clearance within 6 months or else.
Was anyone else in the same boat as me at some point in their career? Does anyone know of folks being called back after the clearance issue was resolved? Should I ask my Manager for a Reference while looking for employment? I liked the people and my work was good.
I got a rehiring offer at a higher pay rate after lay off. But I declined it as I wasn't willing to move to the new location.
I made a solid career at Raytheon for close to 50 years witnessing numerous changes and layoffs. Most of the changes were technology based keeping us ahead of competition. I also witnessed many layoffs mostly based on lack of performance.
My point here is that if you work hard, willing to accept changes and challenges and have good attendance then you should not worry about layoffs.
Now, wIth all that said, I've been retired over 5 years so I can't speak for the present day Raytheon. I want to believe that my theory is the same and Raytheon would be a great company to make a career of.
I'm not sure what was going on but it seems some employees were privy to the lay off coming and knew who was going to get it. I had the same issue with a clearance problem because someone accused me of making a threat to the company and I never did this. I ended up resigning just because my credit and my finances can not take any more of these Raytheon games with employees due to their own paranoia. I am a good American and would never betray my country or Raytheon so the whole thing to me was BS because someone did not like me specifically. I had heard we were being replaced with cheaper labor. ? still have not received any solid excuses for why I was tossed out in the parking lot like a terrorist??? This company is very strange in how they treat people. its just not right and its definitely not just or fair. I did not even get to defend myself. they just took someones word and believed it without question????????? you got me??
Raytheon is a great company and an organizations you will be proud working for. This is one company I would be willing to invest my life, my experience and knowledge.
My best advice is to move on. Once Raytheon terminates you, there is almost no chance of getting re-hired. I know of no instance where folks were re-hired after a termination or a layoff.Best of luck to you
