Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

East Texas (Carthage) has been sold, which is a surprise due to good stable money making area.

All energy companies are going to hell in a hand basket due to low prices. A few years from now this will appear to be a fire sell for sure.

The exclamation points at the end of every sentence is hilarious, however, the horrible grammar is truly disturbing. Actually, my life is great, and, no one is complaining. This is a forum to exchange ideas and information, which, as you know, deals specifically with APC's layoff situation. Yes, we all realize Anadarko does not owe us anything, but thanks for sharing. I envision you as someone who truly believes in the core values and APC. My advice to you is to calm down, live the 'core values', enroll in a creative writing course, and wait for the next round of layoffs.

Fund the company by generating losses and getting tax refunds? That's retarded.

Lay offs will occur throughout the year, but not like last time. Assets will be sold so some people will be let go with the sales. Same severance offers. With all the write offs apc had last year, tax returns alone paid for all lay off costs throughout the year plus some. even the smartest people here don't know everything.

I agree with the good severance as it was great in some cases. The ones with the longest time and making the most money really should have been happy. It is not the same for everyone, but Anadarko did take care of people, so you don't have to worry about them taking care of you if there is another layoff. I think they kept so many this round in case the price of oil went up and they wanted to raise the budget. If prices don't go up and spending increase there probably will be another round in the future if they stick with the current budget. Just pray for oil to go up and spending to increase, and everyone should be okay.

All of you are acting like little kids! No one owes you anything! For those that got layed off they got a good package! Again Anadarko did not have to do that! They are in business to make money and be your friend! The one that still working if you don't like it quit! Stop complaining! That is the reason your life sucks!!!

There is only a limited amount of assets that can be sold off which is what APC is currently doing...selling assets to fund the company. APC simply cannot exist without generating income, which, as we know, means selling assets because the company cannot sustain itself by selling oil due to the current price levels.

Yet, the executives are still receiving multi-million dollar bonuses and laying off honest/hard-working staff. So go ahead and live the core values and believe what you want to believe while upper management cruises around in corporate jets and spends quality time in SoCal and Telluride.

Anadarko needs the money BAD to prepare for the remaining three layoffs this year. For people still working, be prudent and prepared. This downturn is going to be longer than previous downturns.

We need money BAD. We are selling the most attractive assets. That's all that any one will buy in this in this environment. No one wants the garbage so we get to keep it all. This is about survival.
