Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Honestly

I feel bad for all those who have been laid off and weren't ready for it , but hope that life now finds you well. For all the people who are still employed by COP and are on this site you really should soldier up and do your best otherwise leave and make room for those people who need and love their job.

If there is anyone who still has their job and "feels safe" then you're not being honest with yourself. During CERAweek the oil minister of Saudi Arabia said to the attendees directly that any OPEC production cuts were 'not gonna happen'. This despite the fact that their credit rating was recently downgraded. Saudi obviously has a chip on their shoulder and it's not going to fall off anytime soon. The kingdom's tension with Iran adds to the volatility. A major industry source says oil will be in the $30/bbl range during the remainder of 2016 and in the $40/bbl range for 2017. You needn't be an economist to know that more jobs are going to be lost and that the entire landscape of oil majors is in for some big changes. As for the executives, there's about to be a separation of the men from the boys...

So says the HR person on this site who feels safe in their job. Just to let you know, some people have to come here for information because their management tells them nothing and doesn't communicate even when they know what is being discussed.
