Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

MattHell

I watched this place deteriorate year after year for many, many years until Mattel turned into MattHell. It wasn't always like what it has become.

Arrogance & stupidity took over, end of story..........

It's wasn't because the good ole days are gone when real talent really mattered. It's not because the digital age came and made anyone a designer.

It was just poor leadership continually just getting worse where politics and bootlicking became how you were promoted or fired. Talent?...we can farm that out, no worries.

No high five needed as it's just a shame this place fell apart from what it once was when talent, creativity, fun & passion made all the difference & was apparent in the product we once produced & were proud to brag about.

Those days are gone..... :(

They have a so called "talent management" group. I'm curious to know what they do. Perhaps they plan parties? Maybe they're the ones managing the talent out of the building.

If & when anyone ever solves the mystery of what HR actually does, please share here. Solve conflicts? No. Keep things confidential? No. Treat everyone equally & fairly? No. Have long-range succession plans? No. Grow people? No. Understand creatives? No. Have a firm grasp of any useful personnel function? No. What a complete waste of bodies. Next layoff, let the entire HR department go.

Is there anyone who doesn't know that if you want a story to be public just tell Mattel HR? Maybe it's changed with the new mgt? Doubt it...it's been that way since the 80's...but hopefully it's changed...

Challenge for hard working team mates is...even if things don't succeed in the market, upper management will never suffer any consequences...unless you consider losing their tremendous upside bonuses as a consequence...feel the Bern!!!!!...how things happened the way they did at Mattel is symbolic of our current culture...the rich will get richer regardless of their failure, ineptness, lack of successful track record (in it out of Mattel)?and/or repeated bad decisions...sad...each employee will need to do what they need to do...there are probably so many desperate middle managers hanging on for dear life...it's gotta be tough to navigate...there are great places to work...trust me...it's just a matter of finding them...

Be aware that even under the statement of confidentiality whatever you say in your meetings with HR are anything but.

They will share anything you divulge in those meetings so be very careful about what you say. That's just the sad reality.

Isn't it just so sad and also so sad how HR fails to realize they are a huge factor in the downfall as well? I mean come on really, you cannot even talk to them without half of the company knowing your business, so untrustworthy. I agree poor leadership for so long, time to say so long to all you loser leaders, out with the old in with the new! Wish everyone luck! Best thing that will ever happen to you is to get out of that dreadful place.
