Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

contractors

Just heard from a recruiter that HP is indeed leaning towards hiring contractors and continue to layoff permanent workers.

Been happening since mid 2015 in the U.S. It costs money to split into two companies, which I hope takes a long time.

I was at HPI for 3 years as a contractor - always had the gun at my head "If layoffs happen, contractors go first." And I was the first to be let go, even though I was the top performer on the team. Ended up being hired by another team (on the HPE side), and now have to deal with fears of layoffs for being a perm. employee?

Nonsense!

Hey anonymous- news flash. Lots of "perms" had jobs BEFORE HP and know damn good and well what "outside" is - and are leaving because it's a hell of a lot better than being at HP. 8hr work days sound pretty nice. Forget the pay. We care more about our personal lives; even after 30 years.

A lot of dead wood in HP they seem to layoff the wrong people only the brown nosers keep there jobs. Perm workers have no clue what its like outside. After WFR most jobs are contract Perms need a lesson in life.
