Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Its hard to even care.

There is so much negativity surrounding my coworkers / managers. Its clear to me that pretty much everyone has given up. Very few people are willing to take over job responsibilities for those who were laid off or quit, and frankly why should they. Why should anyone go the extra mile to help out right now. Its like, Yeah Il get right on that after returning from my furlough , and im not sure whos going to pick up the work john doe left behind, but it sure is backing up.

Walk by any office today ...of anyone who didnt take Friday off, and look at the people in there just shaking their heads. Its funny to strike up a conversation by asking "hows it going" That question usually gets responded to by sarcastic laughter followed by something a manager asked them to do, which isnt going to get done without an argument. This is the environment we work in.

I guess I still feel lucky to have a job given how many were let go, but it really is terrible right now. Moral is at an all time low and there's really no end in sight to this mess were in. It will seemingly take YEARS to climb out of this. Everyone has a F U mentality and I really cant blame them. Just my thoughts on this place I used to really enjoy being a part of. Now every day is pulling teeth.

Th facility I work at is down to bare bones. The people left are glad to be there and very helpful. We are all learning new areas is the business and it is working out. With that said there is always the possibility our facility will close down but for now it is calm and peaceful.

If everyday is now pulling teeth, you must have a cushy job.

Why care? Just going to be laid off anyway.

Work and do superior work and you will never be rewarded financially for your contributions.

Peter Gibbons: The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.

Bob Porter: Don't... don't care?

Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my assoff and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime, so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.

Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon?

Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses.

Bob Slydell: Eight?

Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.

After I saw how names are selected I don't feel bad for any manager that can't get those left to help. Managers mainly just protecting each other.

I agree with you and call me selfish but I'm not leaving until they make me leave. Give me my 1 week severance per year of employment ....then I will collect unemployment and sit on my a** for a month.
