Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Be thankful a new opportunity awaits you.

The stress of losing your income and benefits is difficult, trust me I am an ex UOP employee and it has been a long hard road. Knowing I don't have to wake up anymore and work under such poor leadership like Greg C or the Tim's or Maria, Brett, or Chris gives me peace of mind because this leadership team is designed to take what's left of this place straight down the toilet. All people who don't care about anyone or anything at that place. Those of you who have been impacted will go on to better things and those who haven't just need to begin preparing to move on because it's only a matter of time. Those left standing at this place will be the ones who don't deserve to be there , like the above mentioned and their days will come and they won't ever be able to trick another company again like they did Uop

This is what happens when you have a failed business model.

Correct, some have walked on their own and others had the decision made for them and all should start looking toward their futures elsewhere. It is a traumatic time to be out of a job and to go into survival mode to take care of your family especially if this is something you have been doing for over 10 years. It makes me sad that people of such poor judgement are making plans for people that have supported them and all these students for so long and then have had to rise up to daily changes and the workers are the ones on the front lines talking to all the students and trying to make these changes seem realistic, reasonable and ethical to our students sometimes choking on the words. Marketing and public relations are a bit of a joke. Phoenix Business Journal posts Tim's speech about the 5 year plan with this big smiley face picture. Why would you post such a happy face picture with an article about laying off close to 500 people? Really, this makes you happy? Business may be business, but these executives taking their golden parachutes and laying off all these people so casually with a smile on their face is really callous and shows no regard to the impact their decisions have on so many families. They are can make different choices in what they put in their pockets and what they offer to loyal employees in a downsizing that they created. The people that are left behind will be working harder and responding to larger case loads of students and be expected to make no mistakes and 'buck-up' and they will be looking to terminate more employees to meet their reduction in workforce if they don't get enough volunteers, so they will start looking for the 'mistakes' and reasons to terminate more loyal employees...hard to keep morale up in an environment like that..people are not drinking the Kool-Aid like in the past when they thought they were supporting a valiant, meaningful effort...you don't get fired up to support executives taking what money is left and running and having no regard for the employees or students that built this company. Don't wait for them to throw you away, make plans of your own if you can. Put on the life preservers folks. You deserve better than what is being offered here. Best of luck to all.
