Pride comes before a fall. HAL thought it was a slam dunk. They even mocked the traditional 5% break up fee & doubled it to 10%. No look ..... Dave looks like a fool. I'm sure they will try to get out of paying it. But at the end of it all - huge p--pie diapers for HAL execs.

Halliburton would not have entered into this deal with the expectation of paying 3.5 billion to broke dick hughes. I can guarantee they have several loop holes to escape the penalty. And keep idiot Crackerhead from making off with millions.

It will, undoubtedly, be contested. Halliburton will also use it's DOJ buddies to apply pressure on BHI to settle for less, or defer on the agreed fee altogether. The good new is that the current BHI Exec team is out either way. Let's hope BHI can steal Mario back from Weatherford and attract some fresh execs that know how to run a business rather than just sycophant cronies like they've had in the recent years - I do not see these leaders within current BHI; at least not at the VP level or above.

Of course GE might step in and try to buy BHI now for a more reasonable price given its current market value. That would be interesting...

You are delusional if you think HAL will pay up. This fee will be litigated for 1-2 years at least. Their lawyers are already scavenging for reasons and violations not to pay. Baker will go under before it is paid.
