So do y'all think HAL is relieved that the govt is blocking the Baker deal? Hearing that since Big Oil is canceling lots of their offshore plans, BHI, which is primarily offshore, would be a loss-making machine for years...HAL didn't anticipate that the oil prices would be this weak for this long when it did the deal...Any insight????

Expect an email from Uncle Dave telling everybody how this decision by the DOJ SAVED Halliburton over $10 billion dollars since BHI is now valued far less than it was at the time the merger and purchase price was announced.
Of course, Uncle Dave will take full credit for saving Halliburton this huge amount of money, and will be well rewarded for his remaining calm in the face of adversity.
Uncle Dave will be held blameless.
Baker an offshore giant? Lol. Hardly. They have offshore work yes, but it is far from the bulk of their market share. BHI actually should come out of this in decent shape since their balance sheet is actually top notch (as can be) compared to others.
