Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

They think that large cities like Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Minneapolis etc can be handled like small towns where CenturyTel started

This mentality that CTL is a tired old phone company pisses me off. Yes, contrary to popular belief from the senior management in Monroe, WE ARE THE PHONE COMPANY! To all of those senior citizens who still have their landline and pay their $40 per month WE ARE THE PHONE COMPANY. This crap where it takes 5 (or more) days to repair a residential phone line is ludicrous. We used to repair a phone line within 24-36 hours, but they've cut so many jobs, it can't be done. Prism is taking all the money and not delivering. We are missing out on THOUSANDS of potential DSL customers who live right in the middle of large metropolitan cities and they can't even get DSL service - or if they can, it's nothing better than 1.5M. CTL management lives in the past. They think that large cities like Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Minneapolis etc can be handled like the very small towns where CenturyTel started. WRONG!

So many employees with many many years of service are leaving in droves because they are tired of getting screwed by senior management. Raise my healthcare, cut my benefits, cut my bonus potential, cut the severance package and wonder why all the knowledge is migrating out the door. How I wish Joe Nacchio would come back to save us!

I work for a large customer of CenturyLink and customer service is almost nonexistent since the layoffs started. We found out about the layoffs after our calls and emails to our customer service rep went unanswered. She had been laid off and we were never given any notification on that or who our new rep was. Since then we have had 3 different reps and have not been able to get information about changing some of our services on our PRI trunks or about getting SIP trunks setup. The last couple of phone lines we ordered a month ago are still not installed. Repairs are generally taking about a week unless cable work needs to be done. Then you are looking at more than a month.

You sound pissed, it's not the CL problem - the whole industry struggles. If you do not like it - move on
