Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Tommy the Best

With my 25 yrs of experience at Cabelas, I can see Tommy as the best of all other peers & cabelas family members. To list a few, his way of visioning, strategizing & handling tough situations are outrageous.

Without him & with the past leadership, this company would have not survived beyond the 50th year.

Loyalty & Royalty don’t have value anymore. Experience matters. Keep using opportunities to grow inside or outside.

Kiss your 25 years with the company good bye, pal. Unless you are part of the royalty, you're on you way out the door too.

Bye bye prince.

Tommy The Best is truly disillusion.

Sounds like a quote from Scientology. The Cabela's cult.

Royalty? Is Sidney part of Great Britain? This is the United States!

The employee reviews on Indeed and Glassdoor have to have been posted by Cabela's management. They all look like they were written from the same script. In fact, some of them have the same title and wording. Most of what is written is purely false.

I would imagine that upper management came up with this scheme to inundate these sites with positive reviews and ordered people to do so.

On the SEC thing; I remember in 2011, my superior was shilling for us to all by stock telling us he had inside information, which he got from attending the annual meeting in Denver, that the stock was about to split and we'd all make a fortune on it. Isn't that illegal?

Tommy Tommy Tommy helping at the wheel (of how many companies now?) as they go down in flames!

This has got to be a bad joke intended to ignite feedback. No one working in Sidney, especially someone who moved there, would ever post such flat out bs.

Other options to post to this site besides using work computers. that have Internet or WiFI access

Seeing these types of posts across the review sites- glassdoor, indeed, etc - nearly all posted during work hours, and likely, from work computers. I know I have lots of time during my full time day to hop out on sites like these and post. (or no) Always a hint of who it is. "25 years" (not many of those left), or current titles on the other sites. Feels like image management by the company, or people "bestowing complements on the king" to try to prevent a beheading.

Local people are not good enough to work at corporate. If you are not a brown noser and dont wear knee pads you will not get promoted. Why the layoffs if the top is so good?

It starts from the top and as you see people still traveling like they have so much cash flow right now in the midst of buyout rumors and the top level managers and execs allow it. Thus the vicious cycle of poor comps and budget problems exists to pay all of those travel and meals. I think the top needs to actually fire and move people not doing there job and get people that can do the jobs correctly ( talent accusation is a huge problem). As a former corporate employee & shareholder i left because if you don't drink the sidney kool aid and fight back on tactics and strategy well then you get casted out. Oh and what does Tommy say about that multi million dollar corporate office sitting right beside the old one. Seems like that buck will get passed down the line... Its time for those multi million dollar salaries to leave and get people that can focus on the core values of Cabelas and pull new ways of getting young people to shop as well as keep the core customer.

as in discounts. I realize the second sales could be misread easily.

Loyalty is the only reason Cabela's gets sales. It is obviously not sales.
