Truth resonates because it's the truth.

I watched this place deteriorate year after year for many, many years until Mattel turned into MattHell. It wasn't always like what it has become.

Arrogance & stupidity took over, end of story..........

It's wasn't because the good ole days are gone when real talent really mattered. It's not because the digital age came and made anyone a designer.

It was just poor leadership continually just getting worse where politics and bootlicking became how you were promoted or fired. Talent?...we can farm that out, no worries.

No high five needed as it's just a shame this place fell apart from what it once was when talent, creativity, fun & passion made all the difference & was apparent in the product we once produced & were proud to brag about.

Those days are gone..... :(

I wish I could give that last poster a high 5 or at least a thumbs up emoji.

Funny how you can always tell who the AKC/AssKissingClub members are on this site as it's so apparent.

Sure, it can & does get a little crazy/personal here every so often but the majority of comments are pretty calm & there's a lot of truth because all you have to look at how terrible our performance is and analyze why.

It always points to the same thing, terrible upper & mid mismanagement & the upside down pyramid of countless EVP's, SVP's VP's & Directors/crushing overhead which leads to cost reducing our product to crap that doesn't/won't sell.

How hard is that to figure out?

To the genius who suggested speaking up at the office on how to actually improve things, that will get you fired here.

Mismanagement rules by fear & intimidation.

Your pathetic attempts to excuse idiocy and mediocrity will not buy any sympathy here. We feel no guilt in calling out the truth. You have no allies but the same fools as yourself. But by all means feel free to regale us with the exploits of these so called "people". I'm sure we'd love to hear how they've made things better.

We always like to claim we make more cars annually than the Big 3 combined. But we have been saddled by leadership who hire people the Big 3 would never hire in their Design departments. I wonder if Chris or Ron would even know what you are talking about if you mentioned Big 3 to them?

You want a suggestion? How about our HR and CEO do a real search for people with the skills and vision to lead our biggest properties? Promoting people who failed other departments into leadership roles in your core businesses is not a reasonable way to run this company.

Here's another suggestion. Stop hiring people from the food industry into senior positions of a toy company.

Sinclair will be gone by the end of the year. That's an opportune time to clean house of the deadwood we call a Board of Directors. Let's get someone in there who will exercise oversight and minimize making the same hiring and direction mistakes we've been seeing for the past 10 years.

LOL. You are the many? You are the rotten. Delusions of grandeur much? If you deserve better, then stand up and make it better. Tearing people down doesn't raise you up

If you are sticking up for either of these guys in HW then you'll have no sympathy from us here. You are certainly free to spend your time elsewhere and point your browser to tmz instead. There are people at this company that are either ignorant or stupid and neither is an excuse. We deserve better and demand better. The failure lies in our leadership. If you don't respect us then we don't respect you. We will crucify you in our anonymity because we are the voice of the many and under represented. Go kiss more asses sell out.

I know I shouldn't feed trolls, but simply put: You guys are a--holes. All you do is spew venom under the protection of anonymity. No constructive suggestions for improvements other then personal attacks on people whom you have vendettas. You really are poison, seeking to make others as miserable as you. Be part of the solution, not the problem. What would you do to fix it? Who should be in charge? Either contribute or leave. The people you tear down are still people, and deserve better then this, no matter how much you vilify them or hold them up as scapegoats for your personal failures.

In my humble opinion the last 3 comments make perfect sense which make absolutely no sense all here at MattHell these days.

Passion, real knowledge, & true skill sets no longer exist or even matter here any more. It's all about the AKA/assKicking Club and the bootlicking skills of our so called miss management possess or require of others below them. Really?

Hasbro & Lego are just the opposite where your passion & skills really make a difference but that no longer matters here any more which is the crux of our problem.

We are trying to make sense in a place that no longer makes any sense anymore. Capiche?

Downy, Swishy, Goody, & Dr. Shorey are going nowhere unless Hasbro buys this dump.

Always remember that in the days of this MattHell cancer culture no one can hear you scream, as it's just a bad dream.

A total ship of fools going forward towards the iceberg.

Down gifted him to the packaging team and promoted him. That's who is accountable. Wu hire for design is Obviously from the same playbook.

It's a start, now call me when Downy, Swishy, Goody and Dr. Shorey are booted. No recovery can take root with them in place. Vive la revolution!

Where's the accountability? If Wrong Way was not up to the job he was gifted with, what about those who hired him and protected him all these years? Seems they showed incompetence in this regard. Shouldn't they also be held accountable, and sacked?

By the Way, if ClicheClownDown did go down next that would indicate that there's still a glimmer of hope left for this place but I doubt it, seriously doubt it, as this place loves cliche, which is why we are where we are .............nothing but headwinds & layoffs/cost reducing in order to continue paying out the dividends while Hasbro & Lego have nothing but tailwinds with awesome retail numbers..

Go figure. Let's just start outsourcing all of design as anybody can do that right? Even a Marketing guy can be the VP of Hot Wheels design so how hard could that be? J. Alder can do it........ even if he doesn't know the difference between a Chevy Nova & a Vega. What's a Vega he asks?

Maybe Chris needed Ron's salary to pay for his office upgrades. Hopefully he will be shown the door next.

Took Way too long for Wrong Way to finally be shown the Way out. Seems like no love lost for him here so Way to go Way.... there's gonna be no Way he can find another job unless he can find his Way to Home Depot.

He loved throwing others under the bus to save his own skin now he finally got thrown under bus himself.

Just the Way it goes, so don't go a Way mad, just go a Way ;)

Seems that Wrong Way finally went the Right Way........OUT THE DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!! It sure took long enough.

A perfect example of a non drawing so called designer who never knew what he wanted because he couldn't communicate what he wanted OR how to correct something if it needed correcting. Design is communication, you have to communicate your concept.

Blow hard Gabe Carlson next?

Any non-Mattel people who read this must be in disbelief. Sadly it is true, this is how One of the Top 100 Companies to Work For treats their employees.

Everyone I know @ MattHell who are of course non butt plugs are absolutely hating life there. Life's a bitch when you have to get up every morning and go where you can barely stand it.

That happened to me a total of three times when I had to report to some of the most talentless, stupid, mean so called managers. I survived, they didn't but all three times it was really tough.

Sure glad I'm not there now.

ah! holding off on payouts is a few million in cash savings to appease the investors. that's all sounds great but it rings familiar of a ponzi scheme. eventually it's all

going to come crashing down around them. I'm guessing they're using this time to Shure up the lines on their golden parachutes.

When you think about it like a bean counter ...

My guess is putting off bonuses and sevrance pay outs into the next quarter (AKA kicking the can into the next quarter) was done to make this past quarter's top line look better.

I miss the days when we were told "don't expect to buy a car with this year's bonus", instead of all this cloak & dagger BS. I get the feeling that there's going to be some serious consolidation of business announced soon. I can't imaging all of the mattel offices being kept open with their operating costs when they're trying to save money and pay these ridiculous dividends. Something just isn't adding up with this.

I had always heard layoffs would be the week of April 4th but wouldn't be surprised if they got pushed out to the 12th either

I suspect the week of the 12th because the next week my department has a unusual team meeting planned for Monday

Hmmmmmm?

It's still a fact that if you didn't get a notice that you're getting something then next week your number's probably up. Just logic that if the checks are going out next week then it will be pretty obvious who stays and who goes. If they drag it out until the 12th that would just be painful for everyone. I'd rather know early

Re: they just weren't ready before the end of the 1st quarter. Agreed, bulk firing that many dedicated, loyal, talented employees is hard work. I saw that HR is staffing up. Addition for subtraction.

Bonuses would have likely been paid out even if you were fired just prior to them being distributed.

The raises this year sucked so bad that it won't make more than a few hundred dollars difference in the severance payouts that will be coming with the April layoffs.

MGSS finance people were told that they would be informed of their termination date in April and some of those who volunteered to be fired for the next round have been informed of the date in April.

The games aren't over yet - they just weren't ready before the end of the 1st quarter.
