Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Let's start a resource for those let go from the bowels of Matthell.

If the severance package still offers it use the right management option. Very handy. As far as headhunters I only know of Tom at toyjobs.com. If anyone knows of other resources, please post it here and let's help folks out as we all know how getting let go can effect ones feelings of self worth and esteem.

Wow, lots of truth on that last post. Coming from someone who's been there, this is achingly true.

If you're pegging me for the "MattHell" "Upper MisManagement" or "Failing upwards" guy, that's not my Schtick ;) I can't take credit for that, so relax yourself. If my observations don't sit well with you then so be it. Take it or leave it, it's my experience. I'm not throwing shade where it doesn't belong, I'm sharing my first hand perspective. Dont misunderstand, this is not about spouting negativity, for me that 'resource' didn't live up to how it was presented - believe me, I went to more than a few classes there but it the end I still stand by my conclusions. What DID work was meeting with peers & colleagues within my discipline & this industry who could review my work and structure feedback. Freelance work ultimately led to a full time job. So this is what worked for me. I'm not relying on Mattels 'resources' to move me to the next step. If it works for you or others, fabulous! But sometimes you have to trust your gut and do what's right for your own career. Utilize the resources that are your phone contacts and get the ball rolling. If you ask for help, you will be surprised to see how many people will support you and put you into contact with companies offering opportunities (& growth!) 😃 not some one-size fits all outplacement consultant who is contracted to work with you for 3-6 months. Just sayin'

Seriously last poster you're the exact know-it-all a--hole that people were glad to have seen shown the door. ANY and all resources are valuable. Help is help and you get out of it what you put into it.

Wow? Was that last post writer by an HR mole? coming Into contact with right management is like stepping into an episode of the office. All the dysfunctional characters you meet there makes you never want to leave your house ever again. You're better off submitting a resume request to Reddit and seeing how many different ways people can recreate an improved you. Man, that place Was so awful. My advice to any of those laid off, don't go; it will only depress you further. Start making some coffee and lunch dates with former colleagues and friends to start networking. Get some real world focused feedback from others in the industry. Right management doesn't have any particular focus so they wouldn't know relevant criteria that applies to design Marketing or engineering. Save yiurself the hassle of

Gas money and sanity and get your friends to provide constructive criticism for your resume. Trust me, I've been there and couldn't believe that I wasted an any time with right management. It's Mattels final

Kick in your assto sell you the notion that they provide services to

The restructured folks. Lol. Hard truths people! Don't believe the Mattel hype, it's all smoke and mirrors.
