Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Headcount?

Was asked the other day how many we've lost, and I can't keep track. Seems about 99% of the positions posted must be being offered to existing staff at corporate - the jobs post for 5 days and then disappear, and don't see new families moving in to all these house for sale? Trying to figure out what the impact has been across the company. Back in September - 72. And then in January another 11? Anyone have the numbers on the other "waves"?

So Rolex pricing and Timex value. It won't last long in a truly consumer discretionary business.

You'll likely see a transition to less salaried managers accross many industries because of proposed federal legislation adding more regulations to that classification of employment.

Makes sense. The new retail guy is from Walmart, so can see adopting the same ol' stuff. Will be interesting. Cabela's dos well years ago when outfitters were the best in the industry in product knowledge and customer service. Without those things, why pay the high prices?

Word on the street is that all manager postions, with the exception of the GM and a couple of Senior ASM's in the store will be replaced with hourly Outfitters. This could potentially save the company upwards of 10 million dollards a year in just salaries, not to mention the benefits. This is the same format being used by Walmart, Home Depot and almost every other big box retailer.
