How many weeks will this round of mass layoffs last? Last time it was roughly 2 weeks.

Do a little research before you get on here and make yourself look like a fool. Upper management knows way more than they're letting on their as scared these days as everyone else.

Halliburton (or any other company for that reason) does not owe you a single solitary thing. You work two weeks, they pay you for that work. Repeat as needed. Be thankful for what you get while you have it. Geez, at least they aren't laying off people without paying them for unused vacation days, 2 weeks of pay in lieu of notice, and a severance package. Would you rather be walked out the door with nothing?

I find it completely shocking that someone actually believes..."companies have a social responsibility to staff", when it comes to job security. Maybe it is just me, but I remember learning, as a kid, that the "company to employee relationship" goes something like this...I work for two weeks, then the company pays me for two weeks of work, at that point everything is even!! Done deal, no more, no less. Life is a little less complicated when you take the view of...this work relationship/job can end at any time.
Now if both sides agreed to an employment contract. Both sides need to meet the requirements in the contract.
Facts? Sure. Rig count is down 73% since 2014. Down 27% since January. 48 customers have filed for bankruptcy so far. No one knows when or where this will stop, it has nothing to do with being "in the dark". I went through the big layoffs in 1982 and 1986, it is the industry which is in trouble, not just Halliburton.
Take a look at thelayoff.com for Schlumberger, Baker, Weatherford, or most operators. Sounds like the some bunch of entitled whiners who think that they or their company is special. This is an industry issue and all companies need to reduce costs to survive. Would you rather these companies not lay off anyone now, only to go out of business later and fire everyone? If your paycheck gets cut 50% do you still go out to dinner every night, have unlimited cable and buy a new car? Of course not, you have to live within your budget to survive. The oil industry is no different. Accept reality (even when it hurts) and you will be better for it.
