Very well said. This is exactly how people get picked. Probably 99.9% of people left are the best people but they r given a # to let go and they have no choice but to pick who is next. Yes even manager are losing their jobs. No one is safe anymore.

This is SPOT on !! The EEs that are still working are the BEST OF THE BEST !! Halliburton is now down to the bone with no more meat left to cut off. If you are still on the payroll and you get stabbed now it is what it is ! You can pat yourself on the back knowing you did a hell of a good job for Halliburton . That my man is the truth !

Each department manager receives a spreadsheet. That spreadsheet has multiple tabs on it, one tab for each position in that department. Employees are ranked based on ability, skills, knowledge, and a variety of other factors. Your department manager works with his/her department supervisors, service leaders and other supervisors.

You are only ranked among those in your department with the same job title. Then they run a formula and start at the bottom of that ranking list. There is no taking into account years of service. There is accounting for ability to learn new things, willingness to relocate and if a person is flexible in where/what he/she will do or not.

At this point the problem is that there isn't a "bottom" of the list anymore. They were obviously the first to go. I can tell you that if at all possible, your managers will try to find a place to transfer you to, but even that is becoming harder to accomplish.

We are now at the point where managers will take someone who wants to be laid off first, IF they ask. They are also making very tough decisions and it is not easy for them. This tares them up as much as it does the rest of us waiting to know if we're next. And the entire time they work on this, they too are wondering if they are next.

Where I am our leadership is outstanding, and I personally know this is not what they want to do. At the end of the day, the object of any company to be profitable and as a manager it's your job to make sure that your department isn't bleeding profusely.

We all know there is no profit left to be made, we are doing jobs at or below cost to keep employees working. At some point you have to amputate or the entire body dies.
