I am still at Noble and I am using the company computer to post this in hopes I get the package next. I know some of the players involved in this. Let me just say the Africa business unit at Noble has the worst reputation in the company and the former exploration manager now Cameroon country manager was a toxic idiot. Her boss was no better. Karma will find them both
If you ever accessed your personal email or other information using a Noble computer or smart phone, your information is already available. At the very least, change your passwords or better yet, change personal email address and delete all old emails from your online account using your personal computer.
LMAO!!!!
I have worked at a number of E&P companies over my 30 years in oil & gas. Never before have seen more incompetent and insecure team leads or first line managers than I have a t Noble. It's difficult to understand how these people were actually promoted to these jobs. How Noble evaluates and promotes certain people is inexplicable. Don't dare challenge their decision making or their competence or your office computer will be scanned looking for some reason to terminate you. We all understand there is no privacy with companies computers, we can read the disclaimer every time we log-on. However, in my opinion, it should be reserved for serious malfeasance. Fraud, something immoral or illegal, kickbacks, etc. Not for some "thin skinned" team lead looking for cowboy justice.
If that's the case, no they shouldn't have. It's insane to post something here, having it come from the network. Most definitely not from your company laptop on the network.
The individuals mentioned weren't stupid and they didn't deserve to be let go. They were some of Noble's best and were just trying to do a good job. The emails in question included internal discussions regarding why exploration management was intentionally overselling an extremely crappy well. In frustration over dealing with irrational managerial decisions they exchanged some snarky comments between themselves. Their comments would probably never have come to light if it hadn't been for a particularly insecure and incompetent first time manager. That particular manager felt vulnerable because several team members had quit under their watch, so they started snooping through employee emails. They found something they could use and the rest is history. Yes, the team members should have been wiser and kept their concerns verbal and not left a written record. Were their emails grounds for termination? No. Their concerns were legitimate, the well in question was expensive and was dry. You figure out which well that was. Why is this important? Because stock holder money was wasted unnecessarily, because good employees just trying to do their jobs got turfed, because the incometant managers who made these decision are still there inflicting more damage on the company. Oh yes, and there is a written record...
You deserve to be fired, if you do so. That's just stupid.
I think HR will be doing the spying on behalf of certain managers. If IT can't figure it out, which they probably can't, then I'm sure they can hire consultant who can.
I don’t know about IT but be careful on some managers at West Africa Business unit. They are known to spy on their employees.
Noble IT is not talented enough to do this.
