Major Technology layoffs are planned at NBT in March. All PSLs within DE and CP will partake and cuts will be blind to position or rank. All about survival of company at this point.

I have been around a long time. 1986 was just as bad except for one thing, they took care of half the employees in a short amount of time and DONE! You could go back to work knowing that it is up hill from here.
I have figured out why (opinion) THIS time is more depressing, The "re-evaluations" on budget each quarter have been going on for over a year now. It is like the Lake Dam has leaks and each month one is patched. It may be a matter of time when the dam finally breaks completely and many of us wonder when that will be. Therefore, many are on edge for a much longer amount of time then in 1986.
I agree management/supervisors are in their own survival mode. Trying to stay under the radar to preserve their jobs. I am not in their shoes so not going to judge here.
We are NOW up to more Chiefs than required. Not sure when someone will realize that yet I am for NOBODY losing their jobs.
Lastly, YES, it is better to be RIFTED at an older age than to just get a card and a piece of cake. THAT is why you see so many elders staying around.
My 2 cents.
"Do we really need Technology center? Those mid-level managers are all sh eaters and a kissers. See what happened? They assigned each person two bosses."
Halliburton has always been good at doing that, by inventing a position, or title, so as to keep the favorites employed.
Who knows, Halliburton may well wind up with MORE newly designated essential personnel than they had before the pruning began.
Do we really need Technology center? Those mid-level managers are all sh eaters and a kissers. See what happened? They assigned each person two bosses. One function manager and one project manager . Do you really need that many a**kissing "leaders"? They have been busy everyday on delivering nothing!
No surprise everyone's job is always up I suppose. WLP Tech is the current rumor. Good time to sneak in a hint if you about to retire. Severance is better than a slice of cheap cake.
