What is the Thailand situation now? Are they still laying off or hiring?
It is an expat haven for sure. I know many expats who have been there as long as 10 years.
Thailand is an expat haven. A lot of American and British expats staying on there years on end living like royalties. These expat positions are there are supposedly (a) to train the locals, create org capability and leave after a few years (b) be rotated back to home so that others get similar opportunities to do development assignments. But any expat that goes to Thailand (or similar attractive locations) never leaves! If management really understands this game being played by a few, they should use this ROM to get rid of as many expats as possible. Most of them ate totally redundant anyway.
Boom in Thailand? Interesting. I would have thought oil price would affect all operations more or less equally worldwide. So what is special there?
Agreed - currently working in Thailand and things are great. We're hiring some new rigs and fresh out of school engineers to run them. Its a boom here.2
BCG typically makes up an magical, arbitrary double digit percentage to reduce workforce. They whisper this sacred number in management's ear. Then the unfortunate are slaughtered at the altar of the sacred number. 25% is their usual sacred number.
BCG also known as Boston Consulting Group- it's who Chevron hired to carry out the layoffs. They are making the decisions of which positions/people will go.
What group is BCG?
2zfo- what part of BCG don't you understand?
Layoffs imminent. No one is immune to dramatic the dramatic drop in oil prices.
Somebody is wearing rose colored eyeglasses. All BU's are under scrutiny.
So which is correct?... "Healthy Indeed" or "Expect a major reorg"?
BCG is there right now. Expect a major reorg.
You don't even want to know what's going on in Thailand.
So is kazhakstan
Perhaps this is because in nothing it resembles your typical Chevron BU...?
Healthy indeed
Thailand probably is the healthiest bu. shouldnt be any layoffs there.
