Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

if I am laid off without a big announcement from the company what do I get? 60 days notice? Or just the 3 weeks like last year?

The nastiest people work in Bartlesville. Never met a larger group of people that justify back stabbing with religion.

What is the question? Two job applications and you are out of ideas? E&P company not hiring and you wonder why?

I applied for a position at another major, I hadn't heard anything since the application in December but online the application was "being reviewed." I decided to contact some recruiting contacts in the company but no reply. Then I contacted a friend in the department to which I was applying, they shared with me the fact that the VP I was to be working for could not make the hiring decision as external hires require COO approval. Fortunately another friend knew the COO - answer, no external hires until 2018. Then I got a call about a position in an NOC in Houston - somebody had left and they were really short in that role. I applied and waited two weeks until I got another reply - they weren't going to hire anyone. Folks - any ideas because I am out of them.

The 60-day notice law only applies when a company lays off 50 or more people in one area at the same time. This is why many companies, including COP, conduct layoffs in smaller amounts throughout the year. They will have the mass layoffs that require the notice, then more that don't.

Next round of layoffs will be announced/notified the 1st week in Feb. and you will get paid until the end of Feb; so 3 weeks just like last time. You were put on notice back in Dec. of 2014!!!!

Documents aplenty noting asset sales and the associated staff. The writing is on the wall.

You get to apply for unemployment is what you get. No announcement/forewarning is necessary. Are you really that naive to believe a company (any company) would come to you and say "Hey John, in sixty days we are going to lay you off."? Geez, maybe they should run you off for being ignorant. I'd put you on the list.
