Thread regarding Johnson & Johnson layoffs

It's very political

I am not surprised that there will be major job cuts in Medical - seriously, there are so many people who just protect their positions, great walls are built around departments. It's ultra political and you need to be very careful with every statement you make... This helps nobody in the long term, in the short term it may help some managers and execs survive, but long term, it'll hurt everybody - Johnson Medical is so big and things are so rigid and political - not sure that I am to stick around much longer... If you are closer to the end of your career and you like to keep your mouth shut, this may be a good place for you, but be careful as thousands will be laid off soon due to poor financial performance... #politicssucks

I especially agree with point #7. The politics and poliTRICKS is alive and well at JNJ.

A few points here (things that are not working out for MD&D):

  1. Inert and very self-satisfied managerial class

  2. High salary and benefits for old-timers, low expectations for them

  3. Contractors do all the work (interns, temps, contractors)

  4. Super long working hours

  5. Cannot move up (proportional to merit and effort)

  6. Work load is going up with staff is cut and support is disappearing

  7. Forced to play the political game, Johnson & Johnson way
