I'm a reporter with the Omaha World-Herald covering Cabela's. We want to write about the recent layoffs and any changes being made within the company, but I need to talk to people who work at the company or have direct knowledge of what's going on. We don't need to use your name in the paper, but the more people I talk to, the easier it will be to get the information out there. Please call me or email me: Paige.yowell@owh.com or 402-444-1414.

Tommy is out looking for his next company to take to the ground in flames, or I'm sure he would be happy to take your calls.
The districts and regionals are now gone. Another worthless level of management that wasted payroll for the past two years.
Now hourly full time hours are being cut below 40 hours.
I worked for them for over two years. They are merciless in retaliating against any employee who says anything to anyone. I was once told that they do not have to honor the Constitution, because they are not a government agency,
Agree with the fear of retaliation. Even if something is reported through the 'confidential' reporting line, somehow it gets out who said what, and that person is the next target for layoff or firing. Not a comfortable workspace or headspace to be in.
Call 860-290-6251.
I understand. I know it's hard to trust a reporter with your livelihood, but I WILL keep identities secret. Different cities and different circumstances, I know, but we have worked with many ConAgra employees who have the same fears. My goal is to get as much info out as possible so people in Sidney and the rest of Nebraska can be better prepared for whatever might be coming. Because something IS coming... like you guys, I am just trying to figure out what, and when.
Paige, your biggest obstacle is the well established fear of retaliation. We all know what happens to anyone who falls out of line. We see co-workers fired or blackballed for challenging the status quo every week. Everyone who moved to Sidney knows what I'm talking about, once you are here, it's the only game in town and you are constantly reminded of it. We'd all love to tell you what it's really like but we need a job and the only other options for most of us are at least 175 miles away.
I've been chasing this story for months, without any trouble from John Gottschalk or our current publisher. Still would like to hear from anyone willing to share their story. I have some information to share as well, but unable to publish it because I can't verify it's true.
From the OWH? You mean the OWH that John Gottschalk from the previous Board of Directors is tied to? That sounds like a brilliant idea. If someone wants to share their thoughts, I'd say call the Lincoln Journal Star or another media source that isn't armpits deep in the green roof.
I would like to tell you some time what happened to me. the way I was treated as an executive was horrible. When a child of Dick asked why I was gone they were shocked as to the story. They said my dad would have never done that.
Now I stand back in awe of how this company in imploding .....The executive leadership is lacking big time. It is good to see BL is gone.
