Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Why is our industry taking the blame for Global Warming?

Why is it that no geologist has come forward and pointed out that anyone can examine sedimentary rock formation layers and see that the earth has cycled from warm to cold and from cold to warm many times. Close examination of rock layers laid down over the roughly four and a half billion year life of our planet shows that the earth has undergone climate changes continuously some occurring very slowly and some very quickly, Massive vegetation growth both on land and in the seas during warm periods followed by ice ages lower seas and glacier action. Volcanic ash from different caldera explosions have been detected around the world. Paleomagnetic now referred to as geomagnetic evidence indicates that the magnetic pole reversal has occurred many times but more importantly that major climate changes appear to have been caused by major solar, volcanic, meteor, and or comet events. Why is it that no one has asked the question that perhaps the lack of volcanic activity and reduced size and number of forest fires has played any part in our global warming trend? A tremendous amount of stored energy in the form of heat is released into space by hurricane activity meaning that lack of hurricane in our major seas adds to stored energy in our seas. Perhaps because an answer of natural events or lack of would not cause fear and in tern not raise money to try to solve. We flatter ourselves that we have reached the point of having the power to influence the climate of our planet.

I'll blame whoever I want for climate change.

Unlike other things that could potentially be contributing to global warming, gas is ever present in the lives of people. They must pay for it or reap its benefits in some way or fashion every single day. However, people don't generally get exposed to coal plants, massive cow farms, toxic pollution (think China/India), etc.

According to the Republicans in Oklahoma and the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma the earthquakes are a hoax, also. One hoax after another... The oil and gas industry is in no way to blame for climate change or pollution or earthquakes.

...wait, let me put the books back on the shelves at my home in Edmond. Must be the cat I do not own that keeps knocking the books off the shelf.

The same reason the oil & gas industry is blamed for the earthquakes in Oklahoma.

Global Warming has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. The OP did not bring up the subject about tea, smartass. The question asked is; why is OUR INDUSTRY (if you actually work in the oil business) always blamed as the main cause for this hoax theory. Why don't you read the comments made by other posters? You don't agree, well then post a reasonable rebuttal.

And what does global warming have to do with the price of tea in China?

There's no proven science to validate what is called "global warming". When the theory was virtually debunked by scientists (some of whom originally supported it), the same group of wealth distribution idealists changed the name to "climate change" in a continued attempt to sell the lie. The convenient target to place the blame for "climate change" is with the hydrocarbon producers of the world - the oil and gas industry. There is for all intent and purposes, a powerful group of people, including governments and private businesses which are collectively referred to as "The New World Order". They want to change the economies of the world to suit their utopian views and amass further wealth and power for themselves. They attempt to accomplish this through a redistribution of wealth grand scheme. The matter is a very complicated one to explain in this forum, but many books have been written on this subject. In my opinion, Obama and his Administration are central players in the plans being advanced by The New World Order.

While fossil fuels may contribute to the global warming issue, the bigger factor influencing global warming is the exponential growth of the human population. Each additional human contributes to the issue, while the human race continues to destroy carbon sinks (i.e. the rainforest in South America).
