Everyone except support staff. No product, project, engineering and sales team
This is the end of it
That last reply was a complete joke. Of the dozens of companies we've acquired, we've screwed most up (Bytemobile, Sanbolic, Octoblu,AppDNA,Cloud,Virtual Computer etc) because there is no plan. A lot of these companies had cool tech and yet we purchase them, don't know what to do with them for years and generally end up killing them off. The successes are very few in number, compared to the failures. How many hundreds of millions down the drain? Citrix is the worst I've ever seen for trying to integrate acquisitions. No plan, no one accountable and no strategy.
GoTo appears to only have succeeded because we left it as a standalone business.
I won't comment on the cost but the Sanbolic product was a Mark T backed acquisition, he had a lot of good plans (real game changing stuff) for how it would integrate with many of the other products but I imagine with the ousting of Mr T those ideas went with him as well. The main problem is that it was a technology and innovation investment for long term growth and thats not in line with what Elliott Mgmt is after. Elliott is a chop shop this company won't exist in three years.
Sanbolic team have also gone, they were bought less than a year ago. I wonder how much it cost to buy. I think this journalist must regret his article https://virtualizationreview.com/articles/2015/01/14/5-reasons-citrix-bought-sanbolic.aspx?m=2 . It is so hard to imagine these amounts of money just burned when I worry about job. Who makes these buying ideas and were they affected?
Citrix spent over $400 million to acquire ByteMobile and could not make it work. It's a large transaction, carrier focused business with little to no adjacencies to the Citrix core and one of those many examples how Citrix wasted money to buy a product they were incapable of integrating into the company. Exhibit A for WHY activists got involved...
Do some googling before posting questions...

ByteMobile was the leader in his domain with good revenues, profitability and growth expectations.... but the whole optimization market for telcos has taken an unforeseen dramatic turn in the last ~2 years (due to some external factors, such as encryption) and the opportunity has been reduced by a big factor. So, yeah, it may seem as a waste of money when looking at it after the fact, but don't forget that at some point there was a real momentum around it and nobody had foreseen the market turn around. Anyway, sad news for those that have worked hard on this product and were impacted by the layoffs.
I have never heard of bytemobile, is this a Citrix product? I have employed by Citrix for eight years and never heard of this product. Is this a real posting?
75% of the total bytemobile staff
That technology paved the way to mobile carriers for netscaler.
What the hell do they do again? What a waste of money buying that technology
