Stop the blame game and get off your lazy ass and find another industry to work for.

I survived the first round of Noble Layoffs, but had been trying to get into a different industry anyways and got out last year before the second round of layoffs. Never been happier. Oil and gas was fine and I came from working in the residential housing market when it collapsed. but now I'm in an industry that I love and have always wanted to be in. Bottom line is, do what you're interested in. Wanna work oil? Awesome. Do it. Wanna join the military? Great! Do it. Wanna work at Mcdonalds? Well that's weird.. but ok. do it. Do something you're interested in. however, do not join noble or anadarko, because you live in the area.. or your friends joined.. or somebody told you there was good money. but if you get into oil and gas anyways, don't bitch and moan about it on a website where nobody important sees it. Oil and gas goes up and down and will continue to go up and down. companies will make poor choices and layoff employees. this is a business.. NOT a family. Stop being such whiney little bitches and just get to work. goodness gracious, the amount of whine on this site is ridiculous... old guys complaining about millennials and millenials making fun of old guys. how about we learn from the old guys, They DO have lots of wisdom and experience and can teach us a ton. Make one of them your mentor and ask them questions. They can teach you so much! And OLD Guys, don't throw the millenials under the bus so much, sure, we check our facebook and unfortunately some of us don't have a good work ethic..which really pisses me off, because it makes those of us millennials with a good work ethic look horrible... regardless, take them under your wing. pull them into a meeting and assign them some tasks that will help them learn, take them to the drill sites and show them what is happening out there. Can we all just work together and get shit done??
I know I know, I don't even work at Noble anymore.. guess I got curious about the layoff rumors after I left though and still check this site every once in a while. peace out.
You millennials should take a lesson from this. Find another industry before it's too late! Your going to be in your fifties, laid-off and not much prospects of finding anything else. You can see what Noble did in layoff round 1. 64% were over 50! Don't expect Noble to be magnanimous... as we have seen they aren't! No other industry "tanks" like this industry. The "busts" are deep and usually long...
