It started when Sprint bought Nextel. Directors and executives pulled in special payments and bonuses. The merger threw the stock in the toilet and the cash outlay to make the Nextel network actually work started the downturn of a once proud and strong company. Then, years of poor executive decisions - especially IT decisions, on projects and efforts that were doomed to failure because IT leadership had their head squarely in their rectums and no one had the guts to say it. Failed projects, extremely poor customer service and not only bad leadership - but leadership that intentionally ignored industry best practices. In order to save the company, perhaps all the executives and directors should get what they deserve - fired, sued for incompetence and collusion..... and then spanked with their pants down on national TV. They deserve it, The executives and the directors sucked the money out of Sprint in their own selfish efforts to line their own pockets knowing quite well the end was coming. Incompetent Leadership... so sad, but, so true.

Sprint Spectrum was formed around 1995 and was the original wireless 'experiment' formed by Sprint, Nortel, Lucent, Motorola, and others. This LLC went public 1997 as Sprint PCS. In 1995 a decision was made to ensure Sprint LD (Long Distance) employees were not allowed to go to PCS. The partnership did not want the LD culture and mindset hurting the new entrepreneurial PCS company. PCS went public at around $7 and soared to $108 by 1999.
The merger with Nextel allowed the Sprint LD personnel to come in and take over (absorb) the PCS operations. They deployed their LD processes and changed the PCS culture to fit LD. It's been downhill since just as predicted would happen back in 1995.
@ Master Kush > Obviously, you have absolutely no education or knowledge of Sprint.
I don't disagree there's some fluff in the employee ranks that could be weeded out. But for the most part, Sprint employees are hard workers that have suffered through years of extremely poor leadership. The whole idea of "Leadership" is for those in upper positions to set the tone and lead the business. When that fails, everything else fails. Sprint is doomed to be sold off in pieces now. They are so far down the drain, there's no more triage that can fix it. Sprint will be sold off piece by piece now and many technology and commodity roles will be outsourced to the lowest bidder. Candice and Pin Drop, we loved you back then. It's all about greed and money now. It's only a matter of time before there is no more Sprint.
Sprint is the network for losers by losers. Sprint is deal last in all that is does since
it's conception back in 1987. Sprints MGT and corporate sales force all work from
home goofing off all day all day and have no idea what work is. Sprint's worthless
employees are the problem. 70 percent of the corporate workers are so unproductive
they can not be helped. They need to fired or Sprint is not going to make it.
