Melody in Asia Pacific is GONE

Well I guess heads start rolling. Melody is gone. I guess Gorgon and Wheatstone finally got to her. How about Watson next

Stephen W. Green, 58, succeeds Melody B. Meyer who is retiring from Chevron after 37 years of service to pursue other opportunities, effective June 1. Green, who is currently corporate vice president of Policy, Government and Public Affairs, will oversee Chevron’s exploration and production activities in nine countries across the Asia-Pacific region. Previous to his current position, Green served as president of Chevron Indonesia Company and managing director of the Chevron IndoAsia Business unit from 2008 to 2011.

She was good in GOM, honest and ethical. Boy did that go out the window.

That is a bad sign for the fat and once safe Friends and Family gang.

More than one person is responsible for Gorgon and Wheatstone. The biggest fish (George Kirkland) left the company, on his own terms, as the debacle was unfolding. Right now, he's gorging down on a juicy steak, smoking a cigar and counting his millions. Who else will follow?

Hopefully someone was finally held accountable for the Gorgon and Wheatstone disasters.

"...to pursue other interests". Translation: "to sit at home staring at the wall and wondering how things could have gone so wrong"

I got the impression from the EMail that she had something else lined up (outside of CVX).

She was a nice person. Moving GOM to Covington was probably not the best idea. $200M on a remote facility with limited resale value with questionable value to the corporation. Not to mention expensive ongoing monthly maintenance costs. Group or team thinking can lead you in the wrong direction sometimes.
