Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

In scope Employees Vent Here

Well, turns out I am in scope. To my surprise, I am actually angry about it. I suspected I would be in scope, but I guess now that it is here and real I feel a bit slighted. Part of me was holding out hope that I wouldn't be selected, but reality has struck. I can say that at this moment I do not feel much loyalty to CVX. Being in scope has demotivated me completely. This is not a good thing when you want to try to keep your job or get another one but it is what it is. I suspect I will get over it, and regain focus. After all it ain't over yet. Hopefully others will vent their feelings/thoughts here and it will help them as well as those that can read their thoughts and understand what they are thinking and feeling too.

OP - don't be discouraged, you as a performer had absolutely nothing to do with the selections for in and out of scope. Leadership merely looked at weather they could absolutely not do without your position. There are only a few in each BU who truly have a skill set Chevron absolutely must keep. Your PMP has nothing to do with the in scope selections. I was a top performer 2014 and should be in the 1, 2+ category for 2015. There are people with consecutive ones who are in scope. It's strictly based by position.

Now is the time to update your GO 400-2 and CDP. Don't be afraid to talk about yourself in a positive light and all you've done in your position. I frequently hear the incumbent typically gets their position back. If you been a high performer and fill out a quality G0 400 tailored to the OJ 1you should be OK. In addition, you can also post for other positions of interest, so see this as an opportunity not a negative.

No, your 60-day notice will start as soon as your are notified you are "left standing". Be sure to confirm this fact with your boss (but, only after you have been notified). Otherwise, keep your chin up and think positive. Word of advise on GTMIS... Make it short and consise. List the crucial subject matter first (Use bullets). Don't include and piddly fluff. Key is to create a noticible impression that someone can read on one page in 5 seconds.

The selection will be made before March 28. Rest will be a drama.

Well put, -dow. That is the thing. They say they want to be fair but the shear number of jobs/people they have to consider will make "fairness" dang near, if not, impossible. All we can do is put forth some effort on GTMIS and start working plan B.

there was a better than 50% chance for anyone to be in scope so in a way we all expected it (I am too) but I agree it is still a downer and I certainly won't have a whole lot energy to focus on my current job. As far as the next job goes, there is not much you can do besides update your GO-400 (resume) in GTMIS and hope for the best. there will be no interviews and with only one week to look at close to 500 (?) positions in DWEP alone and post for 2-3 what else can you do.

The PDC sponsors will assign people to their or other jobs and I doubt they will be up to speed with everyone's skills and background, so unless they know you personally, you are just some number on a spreadsheet or whiteboard.

It is very difficult to focus on anything but getting the next job, whether that is here or elsewhere.
