Public schools and universities are free around the globe, and it's working fine. The messed up cleptocratic economies like Brazil are still resisting, but aside from the USA and some latin american countries the world has figured out that free education pays you back multiple times.
It's just the reverse. It's big business that's taking over education, with government enabling it. Public college used to be free or low cost.
The entire education industry is held captive by "Dirty Politicians" and "Special Interest Groups". The Obama administration has an agenda for the government to control all education in this country. Their first step was to take control of the student loan programs from the private sector which they did in 2010. This way they can control which schools get title IV funding and which don't. He has done the same thing to many private sector businesses through the control of the FDIC. If Obama doesn't like your business he can put you out of business with the control over your bank. The ultimate goal for Obama is to take away your freedom of choice and Bernie Sanders wants to expand on that.
@Salt in the wounds, yes, I know about this strategy to block any resistance. Tony Miller's a shill for Leon Black and the vulture capitalists that are destroying the US. And Nesbitt is another part of the revolving door politics. Miller is being used like Marc Morial (Urban league) and Leon Panetta (Secretary of Defense) were used at Corinthian Colleges. In the past, Apollo Group also used Margaret Spellings, a former Bush DoED official, to pave the way to maximize profits.
The new "brand" campaign, " We Rise", reads like an insipid and limp Maya Angelou poem.
