You know there's lot of hype around google's compensation package, usually by people that didn't get one...But, here's the rub. If you're good enough to get into Google, chances are you're probably going to be able to find position anywhere that is above average.
i didn't find the Google package and my package in San Diego that much different, even in absolute dollars. Bay area inflation adjusted, it's even less compelling. Neither is my wife, who is an equal freak and geek.
It's better, but not ridiculously better.
