Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Does anyone actually know how ESP process will work? What happens between the March 7th posting of jobs and the March 28th "Selection Event"?

The way it really works is this, ESP = Enterprise Severance Package... If you do not have a sponsor that is already talking to you about a position, then you will be laid off during the week of April 4th.

The main activity at that time will be creating and narrowing down short lists of candidates. Every position will have a "first choice" candidate and one or two others on a short list. The actual selection event is just dealing with the outliers...things like making sure the same person isn't selected for multiple positions. If the same person is the first choice candidate for multiple positions, then it shifts to the next logical choice on the short list.

My supervisor who just now announced he was leaving...bastard lol...broke it down like this.

Overall work force is declining by at least 50% from stated numbers. So all of this is best case scenerio, as many believe numbers will be higher. 40% of employees keep their jobs/are placed in their jobs (this has not been clarified as to 40% of CNAEP or new org chart) . Let's just say of CNAEP. Then 60% are on the block and will have to apply for 10% of the remaining jobs (Again 4,000 layoffs are 50% or more of current CNAEP affected staff). So if you have 100 people, 40 would have jobs. 10 jobs would be open for 60 people to apply to and at the end 50 people are left standing with zero opportunities. This time period would give the organization time to staff the 10% or so jobs of CNAEP. This is going to be Earth shattering for most as Chevron has not communicated the plan. Many think it is others that will get fired. When in reality some BU's will exist in name only with a few dozen employees in the end.
