Very interesting article in LA times regarding merger

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-mattel-hasbro-20160205-story.html

Something that really hit home was this statistic

Mattel employees 31,000 earnings = 5.7 billion

Hasbro employees 5,100 earnings = 4.3 billion

Yipes is that really true ?

Jakks was the worst when you had to contend with Jeremy and his ever expanding ego. Dude could go from 0 to douche in a a heartbeat depending on who's company he was in. Don't miss having to deal with him.

so true. I call him ISIS from now on because he will be reading this and will go to the ends of the earth to track someone down. ISIS was a horro show to work for. especially the past few years. sure the salary was decent and there were perks, but the ego and the violatile atmosphere was enough to bail. Hasbro it seems just wants to learn from Mattel employees. they don't value their thoughts, just want to pick up on practices, ask questions they're "not supposed to" and eventually discard you like a used condom with a quick flush (I have no regard for the sewer system in Cali). suck it up (figuratively or literally) and do your time and keep your mouth shut at Mattel. if you come up with a great idea, save your money. quit and come back to inventor relations and try to sell it to them like everyone else does.

Good Lord. Have any of you worked at JAKKS or mga? You're all so spoiled.

True you should have a forum to complain. But loving on Hasbro and working at Mattel is just a smack dab hypocritical. And ha ha I wish I did talk in cliches and drove an m3.

Responding to the post previous to this one

If you look at the pseudonym in my first post it was written to the original "Oh My God" guy

Sorry I'm new to this sight I'm in totally agreement with the last poster

Not the original Oh My God Guy

OK it's confusing

However, calling people douce bags is not very classy... You might re-think the name calling

To the douche who wrote the last post, "OMG you are the problem":

If you think that poster is the problem, why do you even come here??? That person summed up the issues pretty well, maybe missed a few other issues but still pretty spot on. You must be an unsympathetic and oblivious tool in upper management.

"Good lord" is an expression often heard coming from The HW GM's mouth...is that you, CD? Ha ha, it probably isn't. Anyway, whoever you are, I believe people come to this site to vent because there really is no other outlet. So it would be nice if we can continue to post/vent here without getting chastised. Check the layoff.com to see what people are saying about other toy companies; I checked and no other toy company I could find here has nearly as many posts as Mattel. To me that's a sign that Mattel is in really, really bad shape. There is a class system at Mattel that's gotten more and more disparate and polarized. You just can't argue with that, and you shouldn't tell people to basically shut up and suck it up. Comments like that seem like they come from someone in a high position that is happy as a clam due to high pay, special treatment and perks that people below director do not get. You obviously don't know or don't want to admit what it's like to be at the lower levels at Mattel in today's current climate. It's pretty awful. Yes there are a lot of perks but that doesn't make up for the mental strain, unbalanced favoritism and unneeded stress caused by poor (and in some cases immature) leadership.

It is hard to be positive when the Titanic is sinking. It's sinking. Some people did survive.

Good Lord. If you people love Hasbro so much why are you at Mattel? Did your application get lost in the mail? IF a merger happens then it happens. If you're mediocre and have no ass kissing skills then you better pack up. Propagating doomsday scenarios to try to make people share in your misery is an indication of some your own personal insecurities. If half day Fridays go away, are you going to quit? Probably not. You'll just keep whining in an anonymous forum.

The stock went up because of the merger/buying leak of HB buying MattHell & the bargaining talks continue.......I also agree that they will shut everything down & split up the ES campus between Burbank & RI. I smell either a hell of a commute or relocation to Burbank for the ES employees who are kept. Another question is how about Megabloks in Canada & the Rose Art in Orange county. But hey, look on the bright side, at least PLM, TRACS, DesDoc's & A Day of Play will go away........but so will half day Fridays:( BIG question is when will the guillotine fall? Will HB wait until the Q1 when the numbers are even worse so they will have a better poker hand?

After Toy Fair we will have the usual re-org: Which marketing moron gets shuffled to a different team instead of being fired for failure, though considering the recent stock price increase I'm sure they're all on the verge of multiple arm breaks from trying to pat themselves on their collective useless backs when we all know the only thing that gets any use in our organization are the kneecaps from all the ass kissing and back room BJ's. When Hasbro takes over expect ES, EA & NYC to close and everything going to RI & Burbank. Let the culling begin!!

I believe it's called a hostile take over ..... ;)~ Hasbro has hated Mattel for many years so now it can buy it since our idiot upper mismanagement starting from Stockdown and all on the 15th floor who will still make their millions so they don't care. The only wildcard now is the $elling price. If it happens, the 333 Tower & parking structure ( address is half of 666, just say'n ) will be sold. The DC is leased but not sure about the Grand building & the Maple building tho. Damn did this place absolutely go to hell in a hand basket.

Hasbro (HAS -3.5%) execs were asked indirectly about the prospect of merging with Mattel (MAT -2.1%) during yesterday's earnings call. "We think we are well positioned from a brand standpoint, but we do remain open to add on acquisitions that would help to enhance the strategic platform that we are running our brand blueprint strategy," stated CEO Brian Goldner.

Hasbro absolutely killed MattHell in '15 Q4 re$ults !!!!!!!! I just finished reading this LA Times article which was interesting & I'd love to compare MattHells EVP's, SVP's, VP's, Sr. Director's, Director's, Sr. Manager's, & Managers count vs. Hasbro's count & if half of these titles even exist at Hasbro......... I've been saying that MattHell gas been extremely top heavy for too damn long which is why the products keep getting cost reduced to the crap we can't even give away at retail. No worries, MattHell will just hire some more VP's to address this issue.

If the merger were to happen you can expect a holocaust like slaughter of Mattel employees to take place.
