Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HPD in the house.

Uniformed HPD has been stationed in the downtown Houston offices since Wednesday. Just 2 or 3 guys hanging around the sky ring. I thought they were just here for Watson, but they are still here today. Not escorting people out or anything, but standing and watching. Looking bored mostly.

This happening at any other office?

I'm not sure how a po po or two hanging out in the lobby is going to prevent a suicide. But I got the message walking by one yet again this morning. The hammer appears about to fall!

The suicides are covered up. There have been several in Houston. The favored method is jumping from the Wedge Bilding parking garage.

At least one of the suicides was a Covington employee in Horizons.

After 25 years of service,

It is disappointing to have armed security monitor your exit. Deeply embarrassing. While it is easy

to make fun of the "deadwood" etc..and laugh at their dismissal - and talk about the losers who lost their jobs while continuing to collect a paycheck. It is deeply saddening that Chevron folks would revel and mock those who are suffering.

No, on the tree. They became what is known to lesser humans as "deadwood".

You might want to check your facts. I personally know the head of CVX Global Security and he was neither a DEA or FBI agent. He was in British Special Forces and the British Merchant Marine as well as participating in numerous classified actions.

We were informed it's due to a heightened terrorist threat in Houston, considering the recent arrest of Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan.

Interestingly, I don't recall any of this level occurring five years ago when AD was decimating the Bay Area folks.

They must be concerned about the blue collar bubbas without degrees that post here.

The uniformed HPD are decoys for the undercover officers and private security that are surveying the property for potential problems. Chevron has retired FBI and other agencies working for them. CVX is not stupid, they have the buildings under surveillance like a casino looking for anything out of the ordinary. I am glad they are looking out for problems, I do not want to get run over by a car or shot by someone that cannot handle the changes that are coming. I have a family relying on me to come home at night.

Duh, I am sure that's every family's dream to have that in the news. Unless there is a coroner's inquiry, most obituaries don't announce deceased committed suicide. This sort of thing is hush-hush.

There have been multiple suicides in Houston and Louisiana we are hearing. Maybe they are profiling.

I thought we had strict guidelines of no firearms on the property? This sounds like a good opportunity to use our stop work authority. Folks, whip out your STA cards and tell 'em what's up.

If you scroll down to previous posts, someone posted a few days ago that Bellaire, 1400, and 1500 all have armed HPD.
