Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

So the ratings this year....

So I now know of multiple employees who knocked it out of the park last year who were given a 3 rating.

These were repeat high performers who were given weak reasons for the ranking.

Weather the storm COP but I would hate to see what it looks like when the sun comes back out.

I got let go with the last axe-fall last October. I was and am quite relieved. Too much back-stabbing going on already back then. My boss layed me off and then demoted to take my position. Surprise! I think more than one ball will be dropped in my case as someone attempts to do my old duties. Perhaps they will outsource/contract out, but most likely they will just not do most things: so much for efficiency and performance and sustainability. I am going to earn my own income and be my own boss. All ConocoPhillips did was relieve me of backstabbing, stressful, hopeless misery. It's like being a skyscraper window cleaner or Fireman: they didn't pay me enough to put up with all that crap. Leaving there preventing me from a heart attack, and now I am truly alive, even if struggling to make it in a new trade and to be self-sustaining.

kzz - preach that. I left before the layoffs started (about 6 months before) and STILL get calls/emails from those who took over my position 2.5 yrs later!! Guess they needed me more than I needed them after all…….

I have watched people get promoted that have no real talent or competence in their job. I have watched those same people get great ratings because of how much mgmt likes them. I got my rating this year and was told I won't be moving up, I expected as much. I smiled and said how I understand and maybe next year. I am actually glad it happened that way. I have been interviewing and turning down jobs elsewhere because I held out hope that this company would truly be the place I wanted to stay. My decision was made all the easier after this past year. I can't wait to turn in my letter of resignation, too bad I won't be here to watch others try to fill my shoes and drop the ball. I know it is coming, someone will reply with, you weren't so good that others can't fill your job.....my response, wanna bet?

So are we an "independent" now? Has the corporate culture changed dramatically? Can you see it? Can you feel it? Does the stock price reflect it? Does the strategy reflect it? Hmmm, I think most of the pigs are still slopping at the trough. The good old boys are still drinking and carousing together and sucking up to keep their jobs. Yep, you know who you are. It's sad but you don't have the guts to leave. Sleep well tonight. Ryan time to bow out and let someone else run the show. By the way, please take about 4 layers of "leadership" with you, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
