Anyone seen this yet? First I've heard of it. What do you all think? I heard the rumors before about the company breaking off into smaller companies (which is why people thought RD was brought in) but didn't expect this. Thoughts?

This is a perfect scenario for the Mattel Upper management. Stock buyout will be high compared to the trading value, they get their Golden parachutes and don't have to worry about fixing something they have no ability to fix.
So what if many Mattel Employees lose their jobs? When you're sitting in PV watching the sunset and drinking Cristal it really doesn't matter, does it?
These so called leaders at Mattel are more desperate than originally thought . Was'nt it just on Tuesday they were taughting our momentum and cultural improvements??Hasbro is the better managed company currently, if there is a merger, they should run the show. The pieces of corporate stabilization and turn around just are not there. That is the gut reaction, those usually hold true! Bottom line from Tuesday , top line revenue DOWN by 300millilion, Profits DOWN 26% for 2015. Oh yea, that was not mentioned or provided to employees in writing. Was S Cota's computer in plugged? Dividend payout is not sustainable for institutional shareholders. Then on Thursday it is announced that merger discussions have taken place. We have to act on our gut reaction.

in my mind I'm tallying a list of douchebag VP's that I envision getting shown the door. way overdue abd so deserved. we should create a wishlist using first and last initials and see who falls first.
If it happened it would be at the direction of Ruth Handler from her grave. In order to finally rest in peace, she would lead Barbie n company to those of heart and competency versus soulless greed. And I am sure her spirit would be present for the demolition of the saturated VP structure entrenched in ES HQ. Can you just imagine the overwhelming sound of her laughter as all the executive freeloaders get pushed out the door.
