Those of you remaining have hopefully already began to seek out other work possibilities. This weeks events will play out every few months until the company inevitably dissolves over the next 12-18 months. Good luck to those let go, and those who remain.

If you look closely at what SD has done so far, you will realize that it is either ready to be acquired by the equity firm discussed in the news or merge with another company which has the same workforce but cheaper. It is all a question of how long the bust will last.
Agreed that OP didn't say anything demeaning, however disagree regarding the unemployment for the next 3 -5 years. Been in the oilfield business for 27 years now - there will still be jobs for these - just not near as many - and I disagree with referring to landmen as dbags - I know several that are great guys.
OP didn't say anything demeaning or reveal any news that should come to a shock to anyone. This company is beyond repair, no matter which metrics you use to evaluate it. Production is not profitable under current conditions, majority of assets are dogshit, and any decent assets would have to be sold for pennies on the dollar. Liquidity will become an issue and my magic 8 ball told me "outlook not so good". Seems to me the original post nailed it and was simply wishing a positive outcome to all involved. Your screen name tells be all I need to know about you. Sorry you got laid off today. You really want some good news, if your background is in geo, petro engineering, or even worse if you're a dbag landman, you will be unemployed for the next 3-5 years. Have a nice day : )
Well, you're just full of good news, Sunshine.
