Myself and others used to like coming to work at the Cabelas store in Hamburg. In looking around no one cares anymore. Upper management just covers for managers who LACK honesty and integrity but I guess upper management lacks those qualities as well. They hire new employees while cutting hours of employees that have been there for years. I guess it will never be the same again. Maybe new owners will clean house and appreciate the honest hardworking people that still work there.
I happen to have worked with this AP manager. He has he s faults, but who doesn't? He's got a tough job and corporate us always breathing down his neck. If he's getting something on the side, good for him.
I'm not going to name any names, because I known I'll be out the door tomorrow, but the AP manager is a rotten S.O.B. This is a guy with no heart or soul. He's probably launching one of his own internal investigations on thse posts. He's ALWAYS looking to bully someone. Hopefully the day will come when he getrs what he deserves. People like him should burn in hell. Thankfully he's too stupid to figure this out.
Not mad, amused. Pee-on makes it sound like people who are urinated on. I think the person who originally posted the, "pee-on," post actually believes the word means people of such low status, that it would be acceptable to void your bladder on them.

There are pee-ons at Hamburg? What's the starting pay for a pee-on? By the way, the correct spelling is peon, from Spanish, meaning the lowest class on indentured labor. Which department supervises the pee-ons? Are they considered the lowest class of Cabela's employee? Do the have a special pee-on lapel pin and if they do, is peon spelled correctly?

Oh boy. Obviously the last post was from someone mentioned in earlier posts. Management would prefer the outfitters fear them. The fact of the matter is the Hamburg store is broken. It was broken by corporate and store management. The managers would prefer the rank and file fear them rather than respect them. There were some good managers there at one time but they're moistly gone. I have never worked anywhere where management delighted in firing people. They do at Hamburg. They don't just fire a person; they have the person report to HR where the person is tormented before the Cabela's ceremonial walk of shame out the door.
Okay...here's a crazy thought. How about WE all (day shift, night shift, part timers, full timers, managers, HR, leads, outfitters, pee-ons, whoever) just do our jobs to the best of our ability. You know... come to work, do the job, and then go home. Worry about ourselves and less about other people and gossip (whether true or false). This is called being a grown up. No one is perfect and there is always more to every story. Yes, everyone has the option not to read this site, but really? Has it come to bashing other people and spreading crap about things you don't know the full story to? This is starting to get out of hand. If an employee is so unhappy there is a very easy solution....find another job.
Let me tell you 3rd shift has been BY FAR RUN SO MUCH BETTER SINCE TWEEDLE DUMB AND TWEEDLE DEE are no longer on this shift! Unfortunately the gossiping and back stabbing has moved to DAYSHIFT THANK GOD! As the core of values it DOESN'T APPLY TO HAMBURG especially leads and Mgrs.! When HR is doing tier own thing who do you go to,seriously! Everyone covers for each other specifically MANAGEMENT!

I think it was supposed to be Lowes and Cabelas giving back to the community but it was more like giving back to each other.

Food for thought......maybe the reason Johns & Peel don't do anything about what is going on behind Cabelas doors is because they each have their own secrets.
The comments about Hamburg are truthful with all the nonsense that goes on with management and the leads.

If there is truth or not to firearms inspectors being left go I do not know. To those that have lost their jobs I am truly sorry for what you are going through. But dragging people through the mud to make yourself feel better is childish. Blaming full-timers or part-timers is ridiculous as well, I could name as many part-timers as I could full-timers as being a waste of space. This sight is nothing but a place for people to bash their co-workers. If there was any truth to what you had to say these people would be fired. I truly believe you should all grow up and but as much effort in to your jobs as you do this sight.
Funny how the company stresses the core values. Who are they for? Certainly not the employees! The managers and higher ups are the most dishonest people I have ever met. Honesty and integrity yeah right!

The problem is the COMPLETE LACK OF POLICIES BEING FOLLOWED BY HAMBURG HR! She needs to GO! ! The part timers at Hamburg get away with everything, phones. calling off and MAKING THEIR OWN SCHEDULE! ! They forget the 30 hrs they are not working there are full timers doing their job plus alot more!They are LAZY WASTE OF MONEY! I feed my kids and pay my bills with my fulltime position this is just a stepping stone for them! ! They don't want to learn and think they are better then the people who have been here for yrs and KNOW HOW AND WHAT NEEDS TO GET DONE!
That last comment is spoken like one of the brainless, young punk, part timers that have been brought on recently at Hamburg! The part timers in truth, do very little of the heavy lifting, showing up when they feel like it, if they feel like it and spending a lot of time on their "precious" phones while on the sales floor. These pathetic wastes of space and payroll, complain about lack of hours, but when scheduled for more hours call off sick, or just don't show up at all. Sad that in todays pathetic politically correct world, they are then coddled by HR and need to be treated like the children they are! For the most part, these kids have very little respect for other employees and worse yet for the customers. Except for a very small number of the younger part timers, it would greatly benefit the store to clean them out and hire replacements with a little better interviewing process. And in case you needed some clarification in your place in the hierarchy, the Full Timers for the most part are in charge, if you think you as a newly hired part timer should be in charge, then it is clear...you are part of the problem, which will surprise no one! Do your fellow Outfitters and especially the customers a favor and go back to your sandbox.
Problem with Hamburg is to many Full Timers. They all got to Phat and think they are in charge. Should let 3/4 of them go to save payroll. Give part timers more hours since we do all the work any way. Store is looking great and going in right direction, but dam Full Timers push back and always cry about everything. Plus firearm inspectors are a waste. Their is one that don't shut up and just plays on the radio all day long. He annoys everyone. What a waste of a full time spott.

It seems Hamburg's Managers are to busy hooking up with female employees. You have AP Victor & warehouse lead, Chandra, Firearms manager Mike, who cheated on his wife with Casual lead Annette, who cheated on her husband, Archery manager Eric fooling around with customer service outfitter, Patti and Gift manager Joey and Footwear lead Sheena. This house needs to be cleaned.

Yeah the AP Victor is to busy with the Warehouse lead Chandra. Both in the office doing their thing. Get them out and save payroll dollars.
Scott Johns and Jen Peel are the most unprofessional GM and HR I have ever worked with. Both laugh and snicker when employees give them concerns to be addressed. Peel is such a waste because she doesn't know policies and Johns doesn't want to be challenged. Please clean house!

It doesn't really matter about AP at the Hamburg store he is too busy entertaining the Young Female Warehouse Day lead! Giggling and acting VERY UNPROFESSIONAL whenever they are together! The best is HR and GM know,nothing is done about IT!
Well, from what I have heard is that there are people who unknowingly walk into the stores (no bad intentions) with loaded guns. So much for safety of the consumer.
You're right. They just shut down our firearms inspectors today. They were all layed off today and took their employee ID badges.
I was a firearms inspector and was just laid off on February 3rd.I have the ability to reapply for another position but after four years, I've had enough of the games.

Very dangerous move on Cabelas part with some of the people carrying guns into the stores that are clueless and have no common sense. There will be some accidents now, hopefully no employees pay the price.
