Thread regarding SandRidge Energy Inc. layoffs

Sandridge frackers

I hate to see people lose their jobs, but this fracking madness has got to stop. Let's move to clean, renewable energy like wind and solar that is already competitive with fossil fuels, makes America independent of terrorists, and provides good paying jobs that can't be taken away by Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Russia.

Renewable energy is great and it does have it's place, but the only way we CAN become independent of those OPEC countries' stronghold is to produce our own oil. They have always been the largest producers of oil, and are now crying like a bunch of babies because they are slowly losing their dominance on the world market. That is why they have taken this stance to force out their competitors. There is no "sharing" when it comes to them, it's only "all mine". Just like a baby. They think their oil gives them power and influence over the rest of the world. Many years from now when their oil runs out, they will find out how many "friends" they really have.

Wind energy is subsidized $12Billion a year. PE won't touch wind energy without the subsidies due to the fact that it does not make economic sense. Solar is subsidized 30%. Take the tax payers' money out of the equation and both fall on their face. Some folks are just born stupid and, as we all know, you can't fix stupid.

I, too, am dreaming of a world powered by angel kisses and unicorn farts. Until those things materialize, however, we're stuck with dead dinosaur leftovers. FRAC BABY, FRAC!!

OP is a dumbass. Wind and solar are competitive when oil was $100 and only when the government subsidized the hell out of it. On its own, it can't come close. Stupid troll. You probably do work in the industry and just like to see others go into conniptions and have brain aneurysms from reading such retarded crap.

Holy shit! Yes, why didn't any of us think of that?! We'll just flip a switch and make that happen! Out of curiosity, once we who work in big bad oil flip that magical switch, where will you get all of your plastics, road tar, roofing materials, lubricants, synthetic fabrics, adhesives, food stabilizers, etc etc etc that are manufactured from crude oil distillates and byproducts? I suppose that the sun and wind will just start manifesting that shit for us as a way to say thanks for being such giant ass clowns?! F--- you, you f---ing ignorant troll!! PS, did you type that message on a keyboard made with plastic keys? Did you maybe use a phone with gorilla glass that is coated in an oil by-product stabilizer? Your welcome, dipshit!

The OP needs to get the f%ck off of the SD layoff page because he/she obviously doesn't work here and know anyone personally affected by this layoff. People lost their jobs today, so go take your clean energy (wind/solar) and shove it up your ass!

The "madness" that you so inappropriately refer to has brought gasoline and natural gas prices to (recent) historic lows, has brought OPEC to its knees and has crippled the Russian oligarchy. Unfortunately it has also caused an unprecedented oversupply that has in turn has caused, and will continue to cause, massive layoffs. Your "clean energy" isn't as clean as you'd like to think, and every form of energy has its costs to the environment. Frac'ing is relatively clean, is done thousands of feet below ground (and ground water), and has driven energy prices down and will keep them down for decades to come, making solar and wind much less viable. Maybe this is what disappoints you so, that your dream of a world powered by wind and solar energy cannot exist without government support. Your time will come, but it will be decades in the future and we will both be long gone. In the mean time, enjoy your cheap energy and energy derived products, brought to you by hydraulic fracturing. You're welcome.
