Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Are any other stores cutting hours or is it only Hamburg? We weren't told anything. Just found out when we checked our schedules.

There will be a big surprise coming shortly. HR Peel you just don't have a clue what is going on in the store right in front of your eyes!

Disconnected, unapproachable and not available for the outfitters.

Just expressing the facts. You must be one of the morons associated with the HR.

The truth hurts now doesn't it!

So many outfitters with the same opinion of a manager that doesn't have a clue on what's going on and hides in her office.

Keep your kid at home the store is not a day care center.

If you're over 30 and punching a time clock then you should be questioning your career path instead of dogging someone else. You evidently have more time to write stupid post instead of furthering your career.

J. Peel you should resign because you really SUCK at doing your job. You do not know any policies and certainly do not look out for the best interest of the outfitters.

You are another "yes" man to S. Johns and you both act like fools in the presence of outfitters.

What a waste!

In case you don't know Cabela's isn't running a day care so keep your kid at home.

I truely hope they CAN all the seniors at Hamburg they are a waste of $!! Can't manage their way out of a wet paper bag with a pair of scissors! ! However we do have one or two good managers that do a great job day to day!

All we outfitters ask for is open honest communication.

I sure hope the admin staff is being cut because they are the biggest waste of payroll!

The full timers get screwed because Ops had no idea how to forecast and see that there is enough payroll during the slower months to at least have the full timers keep their hours. This also happened a few years ago and the directive that came down from corporate was to not cut full time and to reduce or cut part time hours. Now they are so messed up that they have no idea how to recover. There has been a lack of competent leadership from corporate through store level management.

One of our morning meetings, in late summer or early autumn, mentioned hours getting cut for even full timers if events necessitated it. Just waiting for the next shoe to drop. I don't know what management thinks the outfitters will do if they get hours reduced. Some of our co-workers run a very tight budget and a cut in pay might mean they will have to arrange finding new work with a set schedule so they can take on a part-time job somewhere else to make up for the cut pay.

We got called into a meeting today with the GM. Part 1, was the Active Shooter Training, which was OK. Part 2, was mostly a cryptic message about the new managerial structure. While they did not confirm that it would be last in, first gone, like when the seniors lost positions, there was some speculation that if tenure was a factor, it would be coupled with "performance based" items as well. There were some tears, as most everyone knew what they were talking about. They were also non-committal about the time frame as well. Any body else have any ideas of what is going on??

"We were told that we needed to be under a certain percentage of payroll to sales prior to the end of the month. We were also told that we will be losing all of our managers, except the general and 2 seniors. All of the other manager positions will be filled by hourly Outfitters. Too bad, we've got a couple of truly good managers out the group that we'd like to see stay. Not looking good around here."

Which store was this or is it company wide?

It is too bad what is happening to this company. I was in a store over the weekend and could not get help.

I had $400 of apparel in my cart and left it in the aisle.

Soon they are going to have to be honest with everyone as to what is going on.

I hope enough people in corporate have built bridges to get back to safe land .....and a job for their future.
