I found out on the freaking news! This is just sad after being there many years.

managers don't usually know until the day before the closing. District managers know a few days before that. The only people who know are in Hoffman Estates and they aren't going to tell anyone until the last minute to keep people from just up and leaving and having stores understaffed (more than they are now) and to offer their idea of a package to stay until the end.
If you stay you have to stay until after the last day the doors are open to get the store ready to rent or sell. If you leave before you get nothing. Store closings are long hours with lots of stress. Been there done that
I heard the supervisors all had to sign agreements not to talk or they would loose all benefits and such. heard that a couple of years ago when one of our supervisors was treated so badly and was just gone. I still don't understand what happened a few months back when several leads were terminated in the middle of the day but are now back with different positions, they never talked either. Like when you die you can't come back to tell anyone what it's all about. We all find out when it's our time and then it is what it is.
