PIJ Question, post to lower PSG

For those who have been through ROM, if you post for a placed job in a PSG one lower than yours and get it, do you keep your current PSG or do you have a demo to the lower PSG?

For a returning expat who is in scope who is eligible to apply for other positions ...... If the expat applies and is not chosen then ..... they considered laid off.

are they offered any type of severance at that point?

In my ROM, we were not allowed to post for lower PSG jobs - only the same PSG or one higher.

I asked the same questions to some hiring managers while I went through the last ROM. If you apply for a position that has a lower max PSG than you are at, then you will have to take a demotion and pay cut. Each position posted is only approved for a max budget, which is set by the max budget in the PSG shown. The only other possibility is if you are at the very bottom of your current PSG range, and the advertised PSG has a max that is above your current pay.

Your's is a good question. First of all, so everyone understands, the Pay Scale Grades (PSG) in Chevron are overlapping in the lower and upper competitive objective (CO) salary scale. What happens if you apply for and are selected for a job position that is one PSG level below your current one, is that you take a Demotion. However, your end pay (current salary) does not go down. You will likely end up in the higher end of the CO of the lower PSG. If this is your case, it will obviously translate to keeping your current pay, but not getting a structural pay increase next year or the years thereafter. I suppose your concern is more of keeping a job at Chevron than anything else.
