The company has changed. Back in the day, you knew everyone. Back in the day, what you worked on could make or break the company. Back in the day, you did what it took to get the job done: write simulations, design hardware, write software, debug in the lab, debug in vans, delay customers until other people got things to work. Back in the day, Irwin would come through the lab on Saturday while you were working and he would understand what your were debugging.
There are still projects that operate this way, but it is not the whole company. Each project should operate like this, and they do not. However, the company can no longer have one project.
Irwin could walk through the labs and understand what was happening. Paul could walk through the labs and understand what was happening. Both would give disturbingly accurate technical feedback. I felt that stop happening.
